Order #D117MB Click here for photos Order Here	Amazing 1910s Velvet & Tulle Dress By Arthur Weiss                                                                                                                               If I have ever had a dress that called out Zelda Fitzgerald, this is the one. This amazing ca 1919 dress is a combination of black tulle and magenta red silk velvet. Wonderful! The skirt has 2 extremely full gathered tulle tiers over a slimmer silk underskirt, with the top one a gathered pouf, and both over a black silk lining. This is all suspended on a cream silk slip top with wide petersham waistband. The soft blouson velvet over blouse is worn over this and snaps into position at the waist. The large velvet bow is part of the blouse. What I can tell you about the maker is that I have seen a couple of examples from the later 1920s and into the 1940s. Label: The Arthur Weiss Dress Condition: Excellent, but for a dirt mark on the back as shown and slight wear at the front hook and bar of the blouse. The slip straps have some wear. Order # D145MB Click here for photos Order Here	Lovely 1870s Blue Gauze Summer Bustle Dress And now for a visual treat, we present this 1870s silk organza and silk bustle dress in soft aqua blue. This is how I imagine the girls of Edith Wharton’s The Buccaneers being dressed. The woven windowpane plaid gauze has a yellowish tint that contrasts beautifully with the blue of the silk twill sleeves, pleatings and underskirt. The ribbons are a matching silk satin. The bodice has the contrast sleeves of the 1870s , with tripled row of covered buttons, pleated frills and ribbon bows, it is boned. The skirt has a draped overskirt with apron effect, side drapes and a back pouf of the organza. The underskirt is bleu twill with a stiffened hem. A lovely, soft lightweight summer gown of the period. Condition: Very Good. Not flawless, but worthwhile. One missing button, and scattered fabric losses as shown to the gauze throughout the dress. Order # O116MB Click here for photos Order Here	Stunning 1910s Brocade Cocoon Cape NEW LISTING This 1920s cocoon cape is made out of a stunning Victorian era brocade in a bright rose and black. Fine fabrics were a substantial monetary investment, and as such, were not left to molder in the closet. This cape is a fascinating example of an 1880s fine silk skirt with box pleat edge reworked into a fashionable teens cape with drawstring neckline. The box pleats are placed to form the front edges and the body of the cape is darted and seamed to form a cocoon. Condition: Excellent. No holes or stains or wear. Size: One size fits all. Order # O140MB Click here for photos Order Here	Rich 1870s Victorian Paisley Wool Bustle Dolman                                                                                                  This richly textured 1870s dolman is wonderful paisley wool that actually is made from a paisley shawl. You can see the contrast color centers of the shawl at the center back seam of the bustle. What fun. This dolman has shaped sleeves, a long button fly front, an interior wool braid waist tape for fitting and scads of color coordinating braid trim with chenille fringe. The dolman is lined in gold sateen. Condition: Exterior garment is excellent with no spots or stains. The lining has some repairs at seams and wear but is present. All buttons are present. The chenille fringe is missing occasional strands. The back draping had been taken out and has been re-stitched by hand. Order # D146MB Click here for photos Order Here	Scrumptious 1828 - 1834 Gold Print Dress A rare find, this ca 1828 - 1834 gold textured weave dress is probably cotton, perhaps a cotton and silk blend. The rich gold fabric is printed with small, somewhat abstract, flowers in white, black, tan and rust. The bias cut bodice is high waisted, with a wide open silk bound neckline, and a piped center front seam. The curved side back seams are piped and have a bias band inset as well. The long sleeves fall over the hand and have gathered caps with a wide bell upper sleeve. The dress is fully hand sewn and would have been pinned closed at the center back. This dress has extensive and original piecing of the fabric in the bodice. Ladies really did make use of all the valuable fabric they had at hand. I suspect that the bell shaped upper sleeves are a slightly later addition to emulate 1830s styles. All the sewing is consistent; it’s just an unusual style sleeve for the late 1820s. Condition: Very Good. There are several period repairs in the skirt, including a largish “L” shaped one at the hem, a backed hole, and 2 more recently done repairs, these are a small Ύ” L tear and a backed worn spot. In addition, 2 darker stain as shown. The back of the right sleeve in the lower arm has losses that have been backed with dyed cotton. There is light loss to the fabric at the CB waist band. Order # D150MB Click here for photos Order Here	Extravagantly Detailed Cream & Pink Net Edwardian Dress c.1908 This extravagantly detailed c. 1908 gown in pink, rose, black and cream has all the bells and whistles. There’s the border print pale pink net over layer, the velvet roses under the crochet lace on the bodice, the deep rose fringe and guimpe trim, (possibly from the 1850s era ), the tiny crochet buttons, the fine lace yoke, and the black net used for contrast. The overskirt hem is edged in black silk, and then is caught up to expose more of the fringe at the hem. The under layer is pink cotton and the bodice is boned. The high neck features 3 rows of velvet ribbon at the edge. Center Back hooks closures. Condition: Very Good, no wear to fabrics or holes, would be excellent but for scattered spots on the net overskirt. The most noticeable of these is shown. These are getting like hen’s teeth. It’s loaded with line and detail. The asymmetrically draped and weighted skirt and bodice ‘suspenders’ are a soft black silk satin. The bodice is net with both a cream silk lining an lace overlays. The front has black silk chiffon as a trim and the sleeves have it as an under layer. The neckline and wrists are edged with a dull gold metallic braid. The separate sash is a black silk ribbon that hooks under a center back rosette. Condition: Excellent, no spots or stains. The front closures are the original brass hooks with chenille roundels and tassels on top. The sleeves are trimmed with small silk tassels and lined in cream silk. This white cotton set is more day wear oriented and has lovely Broderie Anglaise work at the wrists. There are 2 loops to tie or pin these into a bodice sleeve. They are shaped to bend at the elbow. A lovely set of sleeves to finish off a period gown. Condition: Very , Very good. Two spots near the biceps as shown in the close-ups. Just a little something we pick up everyday. A truly grand reception dress from the 1870s in a glorious gold silk brocad The gown is one piece with an attached cream silk satin draped and swagged underskirt. The trimmings are box pleated frills in the same silk satin and blonde lace used on the bodice, cuffs, and the skirt. The bodice has the long cuirass fit of the 1870s, with Ύ sleeves and many hooks and bars. It is boned. The skirt accommodates a small low set bustle, with draped fronts, lace cascades, and a wonderfully draped assymetrical gold overskirt. This extends into a substantial train. Label: none Condition: Excellent. Sturdy and clean. Very Presentable. Wear to the back hem edge under the pleats and light wear inside the top loop at the neck. Light wear to the satin knots at the sleeve cuffs. The trimmings are wide silk satin black and copper brown ribbons at the sleeves, bust and collar. The bodice closes at center fron and is fully boned with an interior petersham waist band. The skirt hooks to the bodice at center back and is arranged in padded folds there. Order # D1549 Click here for photos Order Here	Adorable Cream Silk and Pink Faille 1895 Afternoon Dress This adorable afternoon dress is a classic example of the mid 1890s showing the enormous sleeves, the tiny waist and the flared skirt of the time. This is a 2 pc gown with the skirt and sleeves fashioned from a lightweight cream crinkle silk that has a pink glow from the taffeta lining. The bodice and cuffs are a rose silk faille with silver sequins and crystal beaded trim at the neck , waist and cuffs. The large melon sleeves end below the elbow with detachable long sleeves ( not shown, but included). The bodice is lined in pink silk and is boned , with a labeled petersham band. The skirt is fully lined with pink silk taffeta. This one is another museum worthy gown - it was de-accessioned from the Denver Art Museum. Label: A. Foley 134 W. 22nd St, N.Y. Size: Bust: 30", Waist: 20", Shoulders: 13", CB to Waist: 14". Skirt: Waist: 20", Waist to Hem: 40". Condition: Excellent to Very Good. The interior silk taffeta has losses in the shoulder area. The pink silk underskirt has water rings. The skirt waist band has wear. None of this shows when displayed. There is a group of small spots on the back of the right sleeve, and extremely faint underarm discoloration that is difficult to find in the fullness of the sleeves. Price: $365

Glorious Green Silk Faille 1880s Bustle Dress                                                                                                                                This 1880s bustle dress is a glorious shade of rich green for you bustle lovers who tire of the drab tones. The fabric is an ottoman faille in silk combined with a Japanese influenced obi style brocade in rust and gold. Lovely contrast. The bodice is petite, with brocade collar and cuffs, back drape and button front. There is an interior petersham and boning. The skirt has multiple layers with draping, pleating and shirring galore. The underskirt is a tan Silesia cotton. No Label. Condition: Excellent. Restoration to note: missing buttons have been replaced with a very similar silk tufted back covered button. Skirt band has losses at hooks and has been reinforced for stability with black petersham. Bodice sleeve has wear at back of elbow as shown. Very strong and sturdy. Liquid ca. 1912 Edwardian Silk Satin Austrian Evening Dress                                                                                                                                 It’s hard to part with this one. Beautifully made Edwardian dresses in good colors, excellent condition and a decent size like this are very hard to come by. This gown is 3 pieces: a cream net guimpe, a silk and chiffon bodice and a silk skirt. Both the bodice and the guimpe carry the Viennese dressmaker maker’s label. This dress is a green very fluid silk satin , with gathered chiffon sleeves, asymmetrically draped and weighted skirt, self belt with beaded appliquι and black sequin collar to match the small edge of black tulle at the neckline. The bodice is suitable for day or dinner with the guimpe and for evening without. The bodice is built on a cream silk foundation with light boning and a petersham waist band. The skirt is unlined and does not appear to have been lined at any time. The guimpe has a boned lace collar with stain bound edges and petersham belt. Label: Mandl Manσ Wien Condition. Excellent. The dress was missing the collar - still had black snaps and black threads to show the placement. We have added this period one and find it’s a good fit. It is perhaps 1” shorter than the original, which ha done more snap. No stains or holes, Very little wear at all. The guimpe has underarm discoloration. The bodice does not. . Size: Bust: 34”, Waist: 28” , Shoulder to Waist : 14“ , Skirt: Waist: 28”, Waist to Hem CF : 43, Waist to Hem: CB: 51”. Price: $675

Iridescent Blue 1850 Victorian Silk Day Dress with Pelerine                                                                                                                           This is a stunning ca 1850 day dress in blue to red shot silk . And it’s a decent size! It’s a one piece dress with inset waistband, pleated skirt , and muslin bodice lining. The matching pelerine is unlined with bias trim. The dress closes at the front with hooks and a snap at the neck. This is in lovely condition. An quality early piece for the particular collector. We have shown it over 2 petticoats for volume. Charming Navy Blue Silk 1980s Victorian Leg O’ Mutton Sleeve Dress                                                                                                                          This 1895 two pc. dress is a charming example of the period in a delightful silk floral print on deep blue. The bodice is boned with high collar, Leg O’ Mutton sleeves, deep black lace bertha collar and center front closure. The gored skirt sweeps to the back where it is gathered and has a brown cotton lining with velvet brush braid. Condition: Excellent but for color fade on right side back of skirt, please see photos as this is the side shown. New petersham waistband .
