Vintage 1940s Black and White Wool Tailored 2 Pc. Suit by Adrian SZ S

This c. 1946-48 tailored suit carries the famed Adrian label. The FIDM blog has photos of this suit in another fabric, blog link Here. This suit in a black and white fine herringbone wool has a grey effect and is beautifully tailored, with precision seamed panels that run from the shoulder to waist, then V out to the hem. There is a buckle and tab on the left shoulder and another on the right hip. All the lines match up perfectly at every seam. And there are pockets hidden along the inset band. The collar is black velvet. The jacket is structured with strong shoulders and lined in crepe, as is the skirt. The skirt is a simple straight skirt with a back kick pleat and is lined. Side metal zipper to close.

1950s Vintage Blue Wool Suit by Irene Lentz SZ S
This is one of several Irenes we just got in. We are happy. This blue wool suit has the details Irene liked to use. Complex button arrangements, extra button details, curbed seams, and a contrast lining. The jacket has a narrow DB front with alternating double and single button closures with bound buttonholes. There is a set of curved welt pocket s at the left breast- these form a slide for a scarf or hankie, or a large brooch. The jacket has curved darts that line up with a back-waist seam. The back peplum has a lap over at CB with more buttons. The pleated skirt is a straight cut with side metal zipper (machine set) and has welt pockets that fall into the fold of the pleat. The jacket is lined in bands of cream, pink and navy silk.
If you aren't familiar with MGM costume designer and fashion designer Irene Lentz, be sure to look her up. Please note that the detail photos were lightened as needed.

1950s Vintage Davidow Wool Suit in Brown Tweed SZ S

Another one from my personal stash. This suit is a Davidow in brown wool tweed. With matching belt. The jacket has a button front in the patented Davidow system, meaning it's not lined along the button section for less bulk on the front of the body. The jacket hem has small curved vents at the side fronts and back darts. The front has two standing welt breast pockets and a Peter pan collar. The 3/4 sleeves end in button vents. The skirt is straight with a side metal zipper. The narrow belt is covered to match, the jacket lining is crepe de chine as is the partial skirt lining. Side metal zipper on the skirt.
