I am dating this from the pointed collar and the color combination of gold, deep brown and forest green. This is a men's style 49er jacket as it buttons left over right. The plaid is a large, manly scale, too. The pockets are cut on the bias. The sleeves have button cuffs. The yoke is lined in a crispy nylon taffeta.

Vintage 1910s-20s Grey Top Hat SZ 7 1/8

This vintage top hat is a grey wool fabric (not felt) mounted over a hard base. The sweat band is pebbled brown leather with a glued seam (that's older than stitched) and a small bow. The size sticker is an older style, too. The hat came to me in a Cavanaugh hat box, with notation that this hat belonged to Grandpa Asher Pearce. Asher Pearce was b. 1841, died 1936 in the Richmond Indiana area and served as a 1st Lt. in the 57th Indiana during the Civil War. The 'P' sticker has the remains of an 'A' next to it, so I think this was indeed his hat. I just think it belonged to SNJ first as those initials were perforated into the band when the hat was made.  As to period? I am, thinking 1910s-1920s, but could be as late as the 30s. Toppers are very hard to date.

Label: Monogram SNJ.

Size: labeled a 7 1/8. Crown: 22 1/4", Brim: 1 7/8", Height 5 1/2"

Condition: Excellent, but for age spotting throughout.
