 | 1930s Black Velvet And Cream Satin Ladies Robe by Eleanor Beard NEW LISTING Eleanor Beard founded her prominent and successful Ky. studio in 1921 in Hardinsburg, Ky. It is still going today. Her workers produced fine linens, quilts, and everything from shams and drapes to bed jackets and loungewear. We happen to have two of the studio pieces to offer. This one is atypical in that it does not feature quilting or hand stitching. But it is an early piece from the label and illustrates the efforts that were made to attract a sophisticated, moneyed clientele. This elegant black silk panne velvet robe has the bias cut skirt of the 30s, with a sloping hem, cream silk satin turn back cuffs and jabot lining, glass buttons and a low waist line. There is an interior tie as well, It is unlined.
