Glowing 1960s Green Print Cotton  Dress by Dynasty

NEW LISTING  Every time I look at this print I think is an aerial view of land - ponds, woods, fields, meadows. It’s just how my mind works. It makes for an eye catching print, regardless. The fabric on this 1960s dress is a soft polished cotton with a really nice hand. The bodice has a round yoke which is echoed by the inset waistband and has gathers for the bust both at the yoke line and  waist. The skirt has small sections of gathers rather than darts plus a back vent. The closure is a center back nylon zipper.  A lovely, wearable dress for summer and fall .

Brilliant 1960s Floral Chiffon Evening Dress in Pinks

I am a big fan of this bodice line. Wide set neckline with tank style with spaghetti straps and a wide , low back. So pretty. I could mention that television show set in the  early 1960s, but you get the idea. This is a fine dress. The label has been removed along the way, but the fabrics is fantastic. It’s a soft watercolor style floral silk chiffon in hot pink, yellow, red and aqua. The skirt is very, very full and flows over an ivory rayon crepe lining. The bodice is lined in taffeta. The dress closes with a center back metal zipper. A dress that combines the bold colors  and feminine softness of the early 60s.

Labels: ILGWU

Size: Bust: 36”, Waist: 26”, Hips: Full”, Shoulder to Waist: 16“. Waist to Hem: 41”, Hem circumference: Full, ¾ circle

Condition: Excellent. There is slight wear to the spaghetti straps and a few dust marks to the interior skirt lining. The bias area of the hem has hung a tad unevenly.

c. 1969 Victor Costa Black Cocktail Dress with Rhinestones

If only I had only been a just bit older in 1969 or 70, I would have worn this dress the first time around. I would have fallen in love with the wide inset waist band edged with rhinestone trim. But alas, I was too  young for black and rhinestones then. And too old for a mini now. So someone else will have to pick up the slack. This is a quality dress from Victor Costa during his years at Suzy Perette. It’s a black dress weight silk with gathered skirt, sleeveless bodice gently eased in at the high waist, midriff band and aforementioned square rhinestone and plastic trim. Neat dress  - add the black opaque stockings and high platforms from the current runway shows with some chandelier earrings and  it’s a stunner.

Label:  Romantica by Victor Costa and ILGWU.

Size:  Bust: 40“,  Waist:  30”, Hips: 54”, Shoulders: 16”, Shoulder to Waist: 18”,  Waist to  Hem: 21“, Sweep: 64”

1970s Blue and Silver Metallic Knit Jonathan Logan Halter Dress

I do believe I owned the white knit version of the dress in 1974. Really. This one is a navy knit with silver metallic running through it. Halter dresses in the 70s? Oh we loved them. This on has under bust seams, a gathered skirt and extremely long ties you can wrap  to your hearts content or leaving hanging long. Lined through out in blue taffeta, the dress closes center back with a nylon zipper.

Labels: Jonathan Logan and ILGWU

Size: Bust: 34”, Waist: 26”, Hips: Full”, CB Halter to Waist: 20“, Waist to Hem: 40”, Hem circumference: 98”

Glowing 1970s J. Tiktiner Green Print Cotton  Blouse& Skirt Set

We have a great set here for the gal who isn’t afraid to stand out. It’s a brilliant Kelly green cotton with complex printed plaids in navy, red and white. The maker was J. Tiktiner, a French ready to wear company known for resort wear. The set has a button front, long sleeved shirtwaist blouse and pleated skirt. In both pieces, the designer used the 4 plaid variations of the print wisely. The skirt is grouped box pleats that are stitched down to the high hip line and follow the vertical lines of the plaid. The skirt is lined in green acetate and closes with a center back metal zipper. Add a red or navy wide belt - perfection for summer or fall. Or use the pieces as separates and add a white blouse to the skirt or white shorts to the blouse.

Slimming Midnight Blue 1960s Beaded Dress by Patullo-Jo Copeland

This nice sized dress is one my mother would have loved - slimming in the body with lots of neckline focus. The yoke is creamy/nude chiffon backed gauze covered with white beads, sequins and rhinestones. The next inset panel down is a curved silk twill band that forms the rest of the cap sleeve. The body of the dress is midnight blue crepe with princess line seams. The dress is beautifully made befitting as Jo Copeland design sold at a prestigious Chicago ladies store,  with a silk crepe de chine interlining, hand set hooks and loops at the back closure and a nylon zipper at the center back.We have had a few of this designer’s dresses come though our hands, and I do think Copeland’s work is underrated.

The easy fitting top is well cut with darts that line up with the armholes, a slight cap sleeve, bound buttonholes on the button motifs and top stitched flanges that line up ever so neatly with the matching flanges on the skirt. Formfitting 1970s Navy Blue Floral Knit Dress by Youth Guild

The deceptively sweet and innocent dress from the early 1970s ( possibly a Liz Claiborne design from her years there)  is a navy blue cotton blend knit with colorful floral pattern.  Sweet flowers, but is one formfitting knit for the slender and body conscious. The seams allowances are sewn to the right side and serged off for interest. The back zipper is a short one just past the shoulder blades and goes straight up into the turtleneck. We show this standing up and scrunched down, but it could be folded over. Long raglan sleeves complete the slim lines. Zipper is nylon coil.

Label:  Youth Guild and ILGWU

Size: Light stretch in fabric. Bust: 34”, Waist: 26”, Hips: 38”, Shoulders: 15”, Sleeves: 22“, CB to Hem 57”, Hem Circumference: 102”.

Lovely 1960s Givenchy Couture Silk Dress

This lovely ca 1965 -66 silk crepe de chine couture dress by Givenchy  manages to be both romantic and Mod simultaneously. A fine bit of sleight of hand. The darts angle ever so slightly out toward the hips and the side seams are set just a hair to the back. The hem is slightly raised in the front as well, so the wearer could walk more easily.

The quality is impeccable. The heavy weight pink and yellow floral silk crepe de chine is lined with yellow silk chiffon and the side metal zipper is hand set with a hidden chiffon placket. There is a  left shoulder hook and eye closure for easy over the head access. And there is a lot of hand finishing.

Size: Bust: 38", Waist: 32", Hips: 38", Shoulders: 14½", CB Neck to Hem Front: 54", Back: 57", Hem circumference: 50"

Dramatic 1970s Maurice Print Maxi Dress

This is one dramatic print synthetic knit dress from the 1970s, I must say. The print is almost psychedelic! I do love the vibrant yellow, gold orange and pink swirling floral on the black ground. The  bodice is fitted with a scoop neckline, long slim sleeves and a nylon zipper back. The skirt is quite long and straight  and is a wrap style in the front. Fair warning - this wrap opens to the waist! As to the mysterious Maurice - his design aesthetic was certainly inspired by Pucci, much as were the Mr. Dino, Paganne and  Leonard labels.

Label: ILGWU ,  100% nylon and care label. Maurice is printed several times in the fabric.

Size: Labeled a 14. Bust: 43", Waist: 31", Hips: 43", Shoulders: 18" Sleeves: 24", CB Neck to Waist: 18", Waist to Hem: 43", Hem circumference: 52"

Striking 1960s Aqua Wool Tweed Davidow Suit

Another fine suit from Davidow, this time in a striking aqua wool tweed. I have said it before and I will say it again. The Davidow brothers knew how to make suits. The jacket is slightly boxy but not overly so. Both pieces are fully lined. The skirt closes with a side coil zipper. 1960s Jack Feit Back Jacket with Fur Collar

I do wish I knew more about fur. This is soft and long with shiny guard hairs. After that: ?. But I am not clueless about this later 1960s jacket. It's great. Thanks to my fellow Vintage Fashion Guild members, we know that Jack and Elaine Feit were located at 530 Seventh Ave.in the 1960s, and specialized in fur trimmed suits and coats in the $70 to $200 range that retailed in the better New York stores. This winter weight black wool jacket is a class piece of workmanship from the high quality wool to the covered ball buttons, bound buttonholes and well done patch pockets and faux flaps. I has a co-shopper with me when I found this, you are lucky to get a chance at it.

High Class 3 PC 1960s Silk Suit in Black and White

This classy 3 pc 1960s suit set should have a label. It's great quality. But I can't find a thing except the ILGWU label. The suit is a substantial black silk with top-stitched princess seaming, covered ball buttons, bound buttonholes, straight skirt and a black and white silk detachable collar. The skirt has a nylon side zipper. The sleeveless shell blouse matches the collar and zips center back with a metal zipper. I would say this suit is positioned on the cusp of the Great Zipper Change from metal to nylon. Jacket and skirt are fully lined in black taffeta, the blouse in white.

Label: ILGWU

Condition: Jacket is Excellent. Blouse has underarm discolorations. Skirt - side seams and waist had been let out. Both have been restored to original size. Cuff buttons are larger and flatter than jacket buttons, but fabric is a match.
