Impressively Detailed 1960s Kiki Hart Apricot Dress

NEW LISTING Perhaps I am easily impressed, but the detail on this dress is particularly striking, especially for the pared down 1960s. As to Kiki Hart, she was one of the many American RTW designers that deserve more study. Apparently there was David Hart, Inc. which became Kiki Hart. And their dresses weren’t cheap. The fabric is a heavy weight tissue faille in an apricot shade. The dress is a simple cut with a gently gathered skirt, self sash and short sleeves. The trimming? Huge scrolls, loops and rosettes of self rouleau cord set onto a nude sheer at the jewel neckline and a deep hem band. Center back nylon zipper.

This adorable and so wearable linen weave rayon summer dress is a style the Vintage Fashion Guild has come to call a ‘cusper‘ due to being right on the break between decades and styles. Elegant Hong Kong Velvet and Beaded Chiffon Evening Dress

Now this is elegant. These Hong Kong dresses are so well made and often with older techniques that they can be hard to date. Despite the metal zippers at the wrists, I am going to put this in the mid 1960s. It has a lovely black chiffon bodice with allover glass beading, sequins and an integral sleeveless beige modesty liner with deep neckline. The lined full-length skirt is a black stamped velvet and gently eased onto the bodice. The hand set back zipper is metal as well. A lovely dress for the holidays or any formal event.

Sharp and Chic Pauline Trigere Wool Cape and Skirt Set

I really admire Pauline Trigιre’s work. Her sense of style was great, and her ability to cut and drape was superb. She proved herself a master of the large scale plaid - certainly an area many designers shrink from. This set is so bold - a large scale black and camel plaid in a circular cape with a double breasted bound buttonhole front ( all buttons are functional) and companion straight cut skirt with small waist tucks. The construction is super. The cape is fully lined in black linen, with matching control bands at the side so the folds will always fall as they should at the sides. The skirt is interlined with organza and lined in silk with a handset zipper. Pair this up with a black cashmere turtleneck and s stunning necklace, and you will be noticed!

Labels: Pauline Trigere and Hallι Bros. Specialty Shop

Condition: Cape is excellent. Skirt has been let out beautifully - I had to turn it inside out to tell. Hem has been restored to original position.

Size: Cape - Shoulders 16” CB to Hem 36” Hem circumference 136” Skirt: Waist: 25”, Hips: 39”, Waist to Hem: 22” , Hem circumference: 40”
