Glorious Mid 18th Century Silk Brocade Bodice

This treasure is from our long stashed stock of 18th century fashions. The silk brocade fabric is simply wonderful with a scrolling ribbon an floral motif. The colors are blue, white, red and green. This would have been worn with a separate stomacher, one that could be changed to suit the occasion or taste of the wearer. The bodice is lined in linen and still has the linen tapes to tie it across the bust under the stomacher. The peplum is lined in blue cotton. The sleeve flounces are unlined and finished off with braid and silk fly tassels. Echoing menswear of the time, there are small pocket flaps on the side front peplums. The bodice is all hand sewn and unaltered.

Size: Given only for display purposes:
Bust: approx. 32"-34" , Waist: 23" - 25" , Shoulders: 13" , Shoulder to Waist: 13 1/2" "

Condition: Remarkable considering it’s 250 years old. The fabric is sturdy and can be handled. This displays beautifully. There are small organic stains on the interior of the peplum and the right back shoulder as shown. There are small lightened areas at the armpits, one of which has a split as shown.
